This walk is based (with variations) on one waymarked by the National Trust and is easy to follow as parts of the trail are on tracks specially constructed. It tours many of the ancient mining sites at Alderley Edge, some dating back to the Bronze Age, also visiting a Bronze Age burial mound later adapted as a beacon at the time of the Spanish Armada. A folly in the form of a ;Druid's Circle' is also passed and the whole walk is in the most beautiful woodland, which opens out on several cliff edges to give wide-ranging views.
