The walk is between two stations on the Merseyside Northern Line rail network but can be done using a car. There is little climbing as the walk starts relatively high and there are no stiles. If you go on a Wednesday or a Saturday you will be able to visit Gorse Hill Nature Reserve Centre with its lovely woodland walk and if you go on Tuesday to Friday you will be able to take advantage of the superb cafe at Christ Church Centre. There are superb views from Clieves Hill which is on the route and a full range of cafes and pubs at the end. Wednesday is the optimum day to go, except that it is not a market day in Ormskirk.
