This fantastic long walk takes you to the summits of every fell in the Fellbarrow Group. This includes two Wainwright fells and seven Birkett fells for those fell-baggers. The route starts off at an area of roadside parking at Loweswater and instantly starts the ascent to the Mosser Fell road, which is an old disused route over the fell. Height is gained quickly and maintained for a fair distance before the route turns right onto the open fellside. From here the route goes off-path for just a short way and ascends several hundred feet to a stile just below the summit of Fellbarrow. Instead of rising to Fellbarrow the route descends to a col and then ascends to a minor summit (Birkett) called Hatteringill Head. The view north from this summit is great and much of the Cumbrian coast can be seen from here.

Heading south from Hatteringill Head the route retraces itself to the summit of Fellbarrow, which is the second highest peak of the day at 416m above sea level. The route now continues south over two minor summits, Smithy Fell and Sourfoot Fell, which are both Birketts. The path now gently ascends to the highest summit of the day, which is called Low Fell. The mountain has two summits, with the better view being from the slightly lower one. The view down to Loweswater and Crummock Water is breathtaking and a great place to sit for lunch. This is not the last summit of the day; the route steeply descends the fellside, crosses the beck and then steeply ascends to the 391m summit of Darling Fell. The route now descends all the way back to the Mosser Fell Road (with areas showing you why it's now disused!) before heading back to the car park.
