The walk starts in the War Memorial Gardens to the north of Great Harwood and goes west to Dean Clough Reservoir. Height is maintained above the reservoir with wide views in all directions as you cross pastures and even as you lose height going south. The disused track of the Harwood Loop Line is followed all the way back into the town, an easy finish to the walk and one which offers the chance of refreshments, albeit in a supermarket, before returning to the start. One very short, but unavoidable, section, Waymark 9, is particularly muddy, making dry weather preferable for this walk.

Did this walk yesterday, and apart from the already mentioned section 22 to 23, we encountered a further problem between 28 and 29. After the slit stile, and dropping through the first field to a stile, it became impassable due to it being very overgrown with nettles. Retraced back to just before 26. Here turned left onto a farm track, following a wall on the right into the next field before turning right. There is a slit stile that has been blocked with a rock in it. Going straight ahead through two fields there were two gates (both had electric wires across). One does have an overgrown stile. Turned right on farm track to point 29.
