Starting from the Go Ape car park you head along the shore of Lower Rivington Reservoir, which can be boggy in places, and The Castle followed by a steady but gentle climb up to the Japanese lake. Your route then meanders down through the terraced gardens complete with waterfall (beware, the flights of steps can be slippery when wet) finishing with a final lakeside section back to the car park.

If you don't know the Rivington Terraced gardens, this a smashing little gem of a walk for a winter's day - and it would be delightful in summer too. Great for dogs too (no styles, and plenty of space to run around). Renovation is in progress and some paths don't yet have handrails where there is a drop on one side. Car park gets pretty full, as does the café.
