The Yellow Bus 18 runs through Parkstone and Canford Heath to the start point at the top of the delightful village-style Broadstone. Broadstone has a few small cafes, shops and pub-restaurants. You alight from the bus, walk forward out to the centre and then enter The Castlemain Trail. This follows the route of the rail line which ran, pre-Beeching, from Poole to Wimborne. The way passes alongside Broadstone Golf Course at the start and ascends gently through woods on a gravelled cycle and footpath. As you arrive at the edge of Wimborne you walk along a section of road, passing The Willets Arms, 'a traditional Dorset village pub and restaurant with a modern flavour, famous for freshly cooked food, real ales, fine wines and a friendly atmosphere'. The walk then enters a footpath alongside the River Stour, passing through Canford Estate, previously the mansion and estate of Lord Wimborne. You pass Canford School and walk through the village to enter a footpath going through Canford School sports grounds and the golf course. The final section is along lanes through farmland to arrive at Bearcross for a convenience shop and garage and The Bearcross restaurant and pub.
