This Avon Valley Path walk sets out as you alight from More Bus 24 at Burton Hall in the delightful village of Burton. You immediately join a wooded section of the path, pass one of two splendid rural pub-restaurants and then pass through the grounds of Sopley College, to come out to the second pub-restaurant. The walk next continues through a wooded, then an open field area beside a stream and across cultivated fields to come out to the main Ringwood road. Caution: this section of busy road for about two kilometres has no pavement. You continue through fields and lanes to cross a tributary of the Avon over a footbridge beside a ford. The walk continues, to come out beside the actual river and pass alongside the Avon for a little way, before entering Ringwood via a village green. You arrive at the bus station having passed choice restaurants, churches, shops and pubs. Opposite the bus station is a Sainsbury store. The More Bus X3 service runs every half-hour back to Bournemouth, with a heavily reduced Sunday service.
