The walk begins at the car park on the shore of Loch Morlich, at its north-west corner. The first half of the route is a gradual climb of 150m through pine forest, on very good paths. The second part falls more quickly back to the level of the loch, still on good paths. A little over halfway, when you cross the Ski Road for the first time, there is a short (400m) nature trail (suitable for wheelchairs and there is a car park nearby). Later, the walk crosses the sandy beach at the east end of Loch Morlich, where boats, canoes, etc may be hired. The beach is very popular in summer; the water is cold and trout fishing is available. Nearby are caravan site, shop, restaurants, toilets, visitor centre and reindeer centre. The final mile of the walk follows the Ski Road along the north shore of the loch; there is a semi-path alongside the road.
