The walk begins at Heron's Field, Glenmore. The first part follows the south shore of the loch, offering splendid views of the loch and the Kincardine Ridge. It then climbs to the upper edge of the forest, with views to Cairngorm, before descending to Heron's Field. The middle section, betweem w/ms 6 and 7, tends to be boggy (boots advised); but it will delight bonsai enthusiasts. Near the car park there are two cafes, toilets and an outdoor gear shop. The Reindeer Centre is also worth a visit. An enjoyable family walk (with dog).

Do note that there are some boggy sections on this walk so you should wear appropriate footwear.

We did this walk while on holiday in Scotland. Not a very good walk; it goes a bit wrong when you get to way mark 6. You go off the main path and on to boggy ground which spoils it somewhat. I don't recommend this walk.
