A Corwen Quartet: 4 - Rug Chapel

The walk goes from the town centre to the A5 bridge over the River Dee before turning onto a track. This leads to a short road section before the chapel is reached. This is one of two churches near Corwen that have been restored and are maintained by Cadw. There is an entry fee to visit this small church with its amazing interior, where no piece of timber has been left uncarved and unpainted and where the walls are covered with paintings. There is a car park, shop, exhibition and toilets in the grounds. The return is by the same route. This is one of four walks from Corwen that are linked at the A5 bridge over the Dee and so can be joined to make a total of almost ten miles. Alternatively, you can pick and mix, which I think is preferable, as two of the walks are visits to ancient churches that need some time to visit properly.
