Kensington Gardens – Hyde Park – Green Park - Buckingham Palace – The Mall – Horse Guards Road – Whitehall – Trafalgar Square – Strand – Embankment – Houses of Parliament

From Kensington Palace to the Palace of Westminster, the route leads to lots of landmarks, many monuments and memorials and several statues of the famous or formerly-famous, as it proceeds pleasantly via picturesque parks and celebrated streets to terminate by the Thames.

This walk passes many of London's prominent monuments and suggests short diversions which may be taken to view several more. The route has been devised to provide both visual stimulation and historical information, whilst avoiding traffic as much as possible. Tackling it on a Sunday will significantly reduce traffic volume, as some streets are closed to vehicles. Remember to take your camera!

Information for Wheelchair Users: the only part of the route suitable for wheelchairs is that section from Kensington Gardens to Hyde Park Corner. Electric buggies provide free half-hour rides in the parks: please contact 07767-498096.

Information for Dog Owners: despite the abundance of trees in the first half of this walk, the route thereafter is confined to city streets and most dogs are likely to find staring at statues boring. They must in any case be kept on the lead at all times.
