The lay-by on the A40 is usually used by people driving to or from West Wales. However it is a good starting point for walks up to the hill-fort. The views from the top are far-reaching, down to Langorse Lake and across to the Black Mountains to the east and across the Usk Valley to the west. It is useful to have a Tourist Map of Wales to identify what you can see.

A nice walk but this was quite overgrown and in places tiresome due to the long sections through overgrown ferns and weeds, which was also muddy in places. That said, the views from the top made up for the effort, you could even see the curvature of the earth. The last section which advises turning right to go back to the car park might be worth it as from this point the full walk was incredibly overgrown and you don't gain much from it. 7/10....
