The West Pennine Moors, a popular walking area on the fringe of a number of industrial areas, provide wild, demanding routes on moorland. Just as popular are the lower areas like that through which this walk goes, where sheep and cattle are farmed and there are traces of ancient communities. This is a good walk for the wilder days of winter but its real charms are revealed in spring and summer.

Did the walk today (26/6/12). Reached the footbridge at waymark 31. The bridge has been uprooted. You can cross the stream with care (lots of rocks and ledges). I will report this to Lancashire County Council.

Not a good walk if you have a medium/large dog. A lot of stiles to cross.

Path has been re-routed at Point 3 - don't go into the property but continue down the road and look for the route mark on the left ( and official paper work !) which brings you to the bridge (now wood) at Point 4. D.Fawcett 9/7/09
