The walk is to the south of Abbey Village and is a mixture of field-paths, private roads, a water leet and a nature reserve on a disused railway line. Consequently, while there are very easy stretches under foot, there are two places with what I would call serious mud, although nothing that the seasoned walker cannot cope with. There are good views of the West Pennine Moors on the fringes of which the walk lies and a lot of wildlife, especially in the reserve.
