The walk is quite demanding as you climb the Little Skirrid, but the view from the top makes it worthwhile. After returning from the first part of the walk, there is an option to drive into Abergavenny and park and explore, but you see more on foot. Abergavenny holds a very big market every Tuesday; there is also a produce market well worth a visit.

In regard to my previous comments (Aug 2017), Monmouthshire County Council have finally confirmed that the 'Private Property no access' sign has been placed approx 200m before the actual Private Property. I understand that the 'Right of Way' at that point starts to cross a field, which would agree with the Walk Guidance.

Please ensure you use the instructions in No.1 rather than the SatNav, or you end up in the Station Carpark on the wrong side of the tracks!! In Instruction No. 4, we found a sign on an apparent Right of Way track, stating it was "Private Property, no access etc" ~ I have already complained to Monmouthshire County Council. In regard to Instruction No. 7, this public right of way over the railway line is closed for "mitigation purposes" (apparently safety concerns) but it does not detract from the rest of the walk and you just return to your car and avoid the shops of Abergavenny.
