Aboyne Gliding Strip - Braeroddach Loch Circular

Starting at a car park beside a gliding strip the walk follows a very short part of the former Deeside railway line – now part of the Deeside Way. It then crosses the A93 and climbs slightly up a farm road. After passing a small secluded lochan, Braeroddach Loch, it follows well maintained tracks through fields. This is followed by a piece of open woodland, before descending back to the Deeside Way to the starting point.

Lovely easy walk with some fab views but sadly not currently dog friendly. Pheasantries all over the walk (after the first mile) so dogs need to be kept on a lead.

My wife and I had a nice time on this walk, though the weather gods weren't very helpful with the mix of sunshine and rain squalls . A easy walk even for me (slightly asthmatic taxi driver) But with a good variety of wildlife that you just don't see in the city We saw kestrels , roe deer, yellowhammers, and around seven buzzards while on this route and I was pleased to see a Red kite again something that we seem to be seeing all the time now since there reintroduction to Deeside several years ago. My only query on this walk is that it is shorter than before and used to include a stretch along the river Dee at the end.
