Achterneed Circular Walk

You need to log in as a member of Walkingworld to access the details for this walk. Join or log in above if you are already a member. Access is available to Walkingworld subscribers or you can buy the walk individually for £1.95 once you are logged in.

The paths vary from broad forestry tracks to ...none (two short sections of the walk have to be navigated without a path to follow; needs experience and maybe a compass). Off the main tracks the paths can be very boggy, so boots are advised. There is an interesting and scenic lochan about the halfway point, probably at one time offering good trout-fishing and duck-shooting.

Please note that no parking is available in Achterneed. People driving to the start of this walk must park in Strathpeffer.

A note from Mr MacGregor at Achterneed Farm: Please note there is no parking at Achterneed. People who do so cause great inconvenience to the households and the farm in Achterneed. On many occasions we have been unable to get out of driveways and farming operations have had to stop. All parking for walks are at Strathpeffer. We would be most grateful if you would amend your maps acordingly as we have no wish to stop anyone enjoying the countryside but if parking continues to cause problems we shall have to consider having vehicles towed away.
