This easy circular walk along the canal towpath near Nantwich where you will find numerous boats to admire. The route is full of variety; with excellent panoramic views over the rooftops of Nantwich from the high embankment, and you will also enjoy walking through the Dorfold estate. There are some short stretches along roads, but the route is tree lined for much of the way and mostly level. There are no narrow bridges, stiles, kissing gates or snickets. As the canal bridges were built in the 18th century, they are all grade ll listed and part of our industrial archaeology. This is a shorter version of walk 8356 and includes instructions for walkers from moored canal boats.
The walk is suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. The route is excellent for dogs, and with only the steps at the canal bridges to cope with it's possible for children's buggies but will be a real challenge for wheelchair users. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled such as strong trainers or stout shoes, and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. Unfortunately, on your route there are no facilities; neither are there picnic tables, but you will find numerous bench seats along the canal bank.
