Followed the suggested alternative footpath route from the canal back to the start - probably shortens the walk somewhat, as we registered a total distance of 4.1 miles. Detour easy enough to find, although there were some boggy sections (on 3 May 2018). Could be a problem if sweetcorn planted again this year. A pleasant walk through countryside and along the canal. Walk 8000 from Ravensmoor has a slight overlap, but goes in the opposite direction.

I did this walk on 30/4/14 with 15 members of my U3A walking group. It is a delightful walk and we took the alternative route across the fields to Madam's Farm. At the farm there are no signs back to Acton and as the farmer had just planted the three fields we walked around the fields to Monks Lane. Some of the stiles are a little high for shorter people. A lovely walk especially for young families with light push chairs.
