A lovely circular walk with a nice variety of scenery, first along the Trent & Mersey canal towing path, and then along a short section of the river Weaver Navigation and across Dutton Lock. (Photo on the right). Having crossed a few fields follow some very quiet country lanes and pass through Acton village before the final footpath back to the Acton Bridge where they serve excellent meals. Although this latter footpath is not well used it should be fairly easy to follow, and this walk includes instructions for walkers from moored canal and river boats. (Walk 3442 is also available as an alternative and longer walk in this locality.)

This walk is suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies due to several sets of steps and the very narrow final footpath through rough meadows. Suitable footwear in summer will be anything stout and flat soled, but in winter boots will be best as the last sections of the walk may become quite boggy and some of the stiles are not in best condition. Wearing shorts may not be a good idea as these last sections also pass very close to stinging nettles. There are no picnic tables or bench seats on the route, but there are refreshments and toilets at the pub, and if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with your drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
