From the little village of Adstone the route heads for Moreton Pinkney in marvellous Northamptonshire countryside, walking on field-paths, bridleways and wonderful old byways. Pockets of woodland enhance the landscape and there are far-distant views constantly throughout the whole of the walk. The larger village of Moreton Pinkney is visited, its charming cottages sitting either side of Welsh Lane that runs through several villages on its way to Northampton. A lovely old green lane, known as Oxford Lane, is followed, closely to pass
Canons Ashby, its church tower a dominating feature in view for some time. The final leg takes a quiet country road with delightful rural scenes either side on the way back to Adstone.

The long stretch along Banbury Lane is not at all enjoyable, as it has been churned up by offroaders and is now very muddy and rutted. Christine Hodgkinson 18/02/23

Pub in Moreton pinckney is now open again and is called The four candles.check opening hours b4 going as its shut on some lunchtimes in the week

Open but on the whole beautiful scenery most of the way round. Found it difficult to navigate between points 2 and 4 passing Highfields Farm (footpath markers vanish into thin air). Banbury Lane track gets very boggy in the winter season or if has been recent rain. Please note pub at Moreton Pinkey, Englands Rose is no longer there.
