This circular walk has a little of everything, great views, breathtaking scenery, woodlands, babbling trout streams, the source of the River Aire and lush pastureland. Parts of the walk use stretches of the world-famous Pennine Way, as it makes its way through the Dales National Park. The village of Airton is a sleepy picturesque dales village, contrasted by Malham which has pubs, gift shops, ice creams, cafes, B&Bs etc. Malham's popularity with the tourist is its closeness to the spectacular limestone cove, which can be visited from this walk.

Birdlife is typical of the Dales and there is a possibility of seeing rarer birds such as peregrine falcons.

Note that when we trod these fabulous paths, there was one herd of cows that clearly was not in favour of artificial insemination, so keep your wits about you if you see a cow which is strangely larger than the rest.

We did this walk on Sunday the 29th of May 2011 and was a really good walk, pity the weather was wet and windy but it did brighten up as we got back to the car!! Typical. Barbara & Jeff Howcroft & Millie the dog

Superb walk, as usual in this area. The bacon baps at the Old Barn Malham are always great.
