From the car park we head down into the valley before crossing an ancient bridge. We have a 15-minute steady climb with ever- increasingly beautiful views until we reach a flat open area of arable farming land. After a ramble along a wide track we are soon heading down a rocky footpath though pinewoods to find ourselves above the canyon of the Rio Júcar. We follow this amazing way past the ruined Cañavate Tower and eventually descend to another ancient bridge by the now defunct electricity generating building. Crossing the bridge, our way diverges from the official PR CU71. We zigzag up to the spring and follow the concrete lane up through the ancient stone archway. We continue meandering up for five minutes before entering the town again. A few paces along the road between houses brings us back to the start.
