This walk begins in Albufeira's bustling, historic old town where there is plenty to enjoy, from traditional restaurants and trendy bars to ancient city walls and an art gallery.

Starting at sea level, the walk follows the coastline westwards along the stunning Praia dos Pescadores before heading to the modern marina with its brightly coloured properties. This is the place to come if you enjoy water sports or want to go dolphin- and whale-watching (booking is essential).

On the far side of the marina, the walk continues uphill to West Beacon, a perfect place to rest awhile and enjoy panoramic views along the coast towards Faro. The route stays high above the ocean, this time heading westwards, to provide splendid views of the unspoilt sandstone coastline west of Albufeira.

Return to the marina along a historic footpath before heading uphill again to pass the beautiful villas and sumptuous gardens of Cerro Grande and on to Albufeira's old cemetery with its beguiling crypts.
