This short route enables walkers to enjoy a trip to Algarve Shopping, while staying clear of main roads.
Starting in Albufeira’s historic old town, the route passes the art museum before heading uphill to Parque Lúdico, a sloping, green space designed for outdoor activities.
Heading towards Pateo, pass the sprawling Ocean Ville, a deserted 100-room/80-apartment hotel complex which has stood empty since 2008 and now resembles the set of an apocalyptic movie.
After Pateo, the landscape becomes more rural, with pretty wooded areas and sweeping views of distant hills. Walk along stone-walled lanes, undulating tracks and empty roads; if you’re fortunate, you may spot deer or even wild boar on adjacent (and fenced) land.
The final section of the route passes Adega do Cantor, the winery associated with singer Cliff Richard. Advance booking is essential for tours and wine tasting ('cantor' means singer).
