Aldford and Farndon are south of Chester and both lie on the River Dee. Part of the Bishop Bennett Way is used on the outward leg and the Marches Way and the River Dee on the return. In Farndon are public toilets and three pubs, two of which are usually open, even in mid-week. Across the river in Wales lies Holt, but the return is along the English bank.
