The walk takes us along from where the River Aln meets the sea, so named the village Alnmouth and the port that was built in 1208 for grain shipment. We then head to the neighbouring village of Lesbury to cross the river and walk back down the banks again, before leaving for a detour to Foxton Hall, a very grand golf course for the elite. Back down the coastal path where we meet the Alnmouth Golf Course, the second oldest links course in the country, originally the 'Alnmouth Working Mens' Golf Course. The Commons of Alnmouth are still run by the village 'Burges', to maintain and upkeep the commons.
