A walk of contrasts from moorland to forestry with stunning views on a clear day: Morecambe Bay, Beacon Fell, Parlick, Fairsnape, Dunsop Fell, Whernside, Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent, Pendle and Winter Hill are all visible at some stage.
It is mostly easy walking on wide forestry tracks with occasional narrow but easy to follow paths.

A pleasant walk, though generally the open fell walking at the start is much more appealing than following forestry tracks once the summit of Longridge Fell has been achieved. The gap in the wall at WP6 is not really obvious because there is so little wall left. Basically just follow the sign right.

Just completed the walk today (29/11/12). Only one stile (crossed twice) to cause problem. Between WM04 and WM05 there is a new gate in the wall. I used the gate and when I reached WM05 there was a notice requesting people coming in the opposite direction to use the gate or stiles nearer to the trig point (WM04) and not to use this stile. In addition I don't like walking along the road if it can be avoided. I found a track to the right near to WM17 which went up and over the hill. It is quite wide at the start but then narrows and disappears. Once you have reached the crest of the hill you can see the car park so just need to make your way across the open access land.
