Alto Gemal Igualeja – Parauta Circular

We begin by climbing out of Igualeja before a steep descent to a streambed. Once again we climb up through sweet chestnut forests before a final steep descent to the charming little village of Parauta, where we can enjoy a well-earned break in the little bar near the town hall. Next we face a long serpentine descent into the river valley and have to cross the river by wading to begin the last stretch back to Igualeja. We start with another steep serpentine climb up through chestnut forests before eventually reaching a wide track, which we follow to rejoin our outward route some two kilometres outside Igualeja. Now all we have to do is retrace our footsteps down to the start.
