This walk was originally submitted by Brian & Anne Sandland. Walkingworld is very grateful for Sid Marks taking over the walk, April 2021. Walk titles and route directions may have changed since the walk was first published.

This walk complements several others around the picturesque reservoir known as Alton Water, which is owned by Anglian Water. This is a beautiful rural area and is close to the River Stour. One section of this walk takes you along a delightful area of the north bank, with views in all directions and a large variety of birds and other wildlife. You will be able to see the impressive grounds and buildings of the Royal Hospital School for some distance. Other walks already on Walkingworld which include a section of Alton Water are 835, 3421, 3422 and 3423. Toilets and a cafe which serves meals are to be found at the start and end of the walk.
