From the river-bridge in Church Street, Amesbury, this is a super little walk that soon leads out into lovely Wiltshire countryside. Splendid views from a ridge above the Avon Valley, quiet woodland paths and spacious open fields where birdsong is prolific and flora and fauna are plentiful, are some of the delights of this route. The charm of the pretty thatched cottages on Great Durnford, the old and beautiful church just off the route and the final short stretch beside the River Avon, are additional enjoyable features of the walk, culminating in a very satisfying experience.

Did this walk on a very cold, bright December morning, 2011. Lovely varied walk with lots of stunning views and interests on route. No problems except it would be very muddy in places had the ground not been frozen, our dogs loved it.
