This is another walk in the area of woodland near the Colby Estate. The outward route uses the western arm of the estate, but returns via the eastern arm. I plan another walk utilising the many paths in between. The area around the quarries has its own kind of interest, not least the birdlife.

Did this walk on 28/3/17 and it has changed quite a bit around the quarry area so I would suggest anyone not comfortable with a bit of map reading should avoid. Starts OK with a lovely walk past the Colby Estate and up through woodland. Sadly it all starts to go wrong at Waypoint 6. The stile in the corner of the field is there but badly overgrown and the local farmer has tied another gate in front of it making it difficult to get over (I suspect because he has a new giant wind turbine in the field you are about to cross). Once over go diagonally across the field as per instructions but the stile has gone and been replaced by a gate. The other two stiles can easily be seen in front of you so keep going. Once you get to the muddy lane that gate is no longer there so continue up the lane and you come to the quarry works, turn left to the road. Turn right and walk past Belle Vue Farm to the crossroads, turn right again for 100 yards before turning right again towards Gella Cottage. Keep on this track for approx 800 yards until you can see the quarry workings on your right. Look on the left for an avenue of trees and 50 yards down there is waypoint 8. Good luck!!
