A wonderfully varied route with spectacular views. The route crosses the Ardnish Peninsula and a freshwater loch which is excellent for swimming, to a small settlement on the point of the peninsula and a bay, long since deserted, but with a well-maintained bothy among the ruins. The bothy is open and visitors are welcome to stay. If you intend to do so, please collect some firewood as you make your way through the woods to replace any you use. The beach can have spectacular sunsets. This is an excellent walk for kids, with good spots for swimming.

Having been driven back by a snowstorm the previous year we ventured out again in glorious sunshine. This is a much more demanding walk than would appear with many ups and downs. Views are outstanding and all around. The path itself varies radically from firm ground, over stony and rocky surfaces and finally through a flood plain which could be wet. The final stop at the Bothie is both stunning and relaxing. Although the return is by the same path the varied nature of it means that at all times it seems to be very different. The height gain indicated is the peak height, whereas the actual total ascents are of the order of 450m which bearing in mind the path makes it quite demanding.
