A superb walk from the village of Arona, skirting the southern base of the table-top mountain, all the way to the Miraverde complex in the Fanabe area of Costa Adeje, within constant sight of the southern coastline.

Walking in Tenerife, like all mountain walking, has to be shown the utmost respect and no walk should be undertaken in rain or storm conditions or without the correct supportive footwear, plenty of water, food, a map, mobile phone and a basic first-aid kit, including tweezers for the removal of prickly pear cactus should you be unfortunate enough to fall onto one! Many of the mountain walks involve an element of vertigo and of course you should always stop when enjoying the scenery or taking photographs. Walks in the CaƱadas are at high altitude and you may take an hour or so to adjust to this. That said, there are some amazing views of the geological structure and mountains of the island and breathtaking views of La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and sometimes Gran Canaria on a good day!

We did this walk on 28-2-13. This is another excellent walk from Ray. The views as stated are great and the paths are easy enough to follow. The text is well written generally. However, the waypoint numbers started to drift. As an example wp 20 on the text is actually wp 22. This didn't give us a problem as we always use a mapping gps, however it did mean the last 4 or five steps in Fanabe were confusing as you were always 2 steps out. We opted to do gps point to point for the last part, heading for the dual carriageway. On a separate note, if we understood our local super market staff correctly, bonobus tickets are for if you are doing extensive travel as they are 15 and 25 euros. It's best to just pay on the bus if doing a one off. Ending on a positive, we'd just like to re-iterate that this is a splendid walk and we will definitely do Ray's other walks if we visit again.
