An excellent short circular walk through ancient mixed woods and heathland, with a good variety of scenery and woodland flowers. The few stiles are in excellent condition and there are no narrow bridges or fields of animals. The route is along well-established bridle paths, and you may encounter horses but no joggers or bikes. There are some delightful large ponds with small waterfalls, as you can see in the photo on the right. The route is very flat with hardly any slopes, but the latter section may be a bit boggy in winter. As with most heathland walks the park is criss-crossed with numerous paths, most of them either not marked or have been altered. Don't presume the green dotted lines on the map show a correct path; towards the end of the route few of them are correct. Keep to the written instructions below and you should not get lost.

The walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there are occasional rustic seats but no other amenities. The only detriment is possible engine noise from the adjacent Oulton Park racing circuit if it is in use.
