Starting at a small car park, this walk begins by following a minor tarred road before entering Mundernal Wood. The route taken starts off fairly flat and is close to the edge of the wood, so views of the countryside, backed by distant hills, can be viewed. A more enclosed section follows with slight undulations, but this eventually opens out into a broader wooded landscape. Nearing the end, the track swings back on itself and gradually begins to rise. A further, steeper incline then leads to the top of Cairn-mon-Earn, which bristles with communications masts. From the top, fantastic panoramas are enjoyed. After descending the hill, the route leads back to the car park.
