This easy, breezy walk to the east of Newton Stewart is mainly level, in the floodplain of the River Cree. Largely along tarmacked country lanes, it is not however, devoid of interest. It visits scenes from a local authoress' novel and after passing through the clachan of Blackcraig, a mile's optional diversion returns walkers via a high drive and swanky hotel set in attractive parkland.
