Around the Marsh to Porlock Weir

From Porlock this walk takes you on a circumnavigation of the salt marsh that lies between Porlock and the sea and leads you to the pretty old port of Porlock Weir, with its shingle harbour and welcoming pub. A recent breach in the huge shingle ridge has meant that the marsh is once more regularly inundated and so remains a great example of a coastal salt marsh. The breach does mean however, that the walk is only safely navigable at low water (tide times are available at Porlock's visitor information) and you won't complete it without a little paddling, but the views out to sea and sometimes of the famous submerged forest and the beauty of Porlock and Porlock Weir, make the effort worthwhile.

Porlock Beach is shingle and so firm-soled footwear is a must.
