This is a delightful little walk into one of the fascinating hidden valley microenvironments to be found here and there in the Alcornocales natural park.

The entertainment value of the walk is further enhanced by the approach drive to and from the start. The walk begins and ends in the middle of a 22km unmade forest road, that can be driven with care, which goes from Facinas just off the N340 Tarifa to Cadiz road to the A381 Algerciras to Jerez road, just after the Los Barrios bypass. The drive itself is interesting, as it crosses the Puerto de Ojen, following the ancient Roman and medieval Arabic route from Gibraltar to Seville.

Do not be put off by the start and end of the drive, as it is well worth persevering and there are some lovely picnic spots that can make the whole thing a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

No restrictions, however the walk does follow the route of a mountain stream and warnings are displayed to take care after heavy rain, in case of flash flooding.
