A walk in the glorious Cotswolds from the charming West Oxfordshire village of Ascott-under-Wychwood, a setting of wonderful Cotswold stone buildings most pleasing to the eye. A bridleway is followed on part of the Oxfordshire Way to Chilson, small and picturesque, then on to Shorthampton, tinier still, where there is a beautiful little church, open to visitors.

The large village of Chadlington is straddled either side of the road running through it, with large and small stone buildings of character.

The River Evenlode is a feature on this walk and marvellous scenes are ever-present with patchwork fields, copses and woods constantly in view. The interests and pleasures remain for the entirety of this walk with a manor-house and a castle site, then a manned signal box beside a level-crossing at the very end of the journey.
