Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track; this circular walk close to Chester is along footpaths which are not often used. If you want to get away from it all and spend some time in the countryside, listening to the birds and enjoying the solitude of the wide open flat spaces where the main features are the variety of the trees in the hedgerows - then this is the walk for you. When I compiled this walk, I never met a soul anywhere. All the stiles and kissing gates are in good order and the route is marked with small yellow arrows throughout; nothing blocks your passage. Generally, there are no visible paths to follow so careful navigation is needed and there are detailed descriptions below to assist you. A well-used exception is part of the Longster Trail, (photo on the right).

The walk is suitable for adults and senior citizens, but probably boring for young people. Difficult for dogs unless they can be lifted over stiles, and hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best and are essential in winter when most of the route will be muddy. There should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no refreshments, toilets, picnic tables, bench seats or pubs on this walk.
