Astley Hall, Chorley and its Surroundings

The walk starts not far from the centre of Chorley and although it is obviously an urban walk, two-thirds are either within the extensive grounds of Astley Hall or on a well-defined section through fields which could be miles from a town. It is mostly flat and the few stiles are easy to use as they conform to BSI standards. There are toilets and an excellent cafe at the start of the walk.

Pleasant walk although right about the mud - the fields were very bad but it has rained a lot recently!! Worth noting that if you come by bus or train you will enter the park by the war memorial, quite a way from the main car park. However a short distance from here brings you, on your left, to the post with "start" scratched in (waymark3) so you can start and end there. If needed there are toilets at the back of the children's playground just past here on the right. You will then reach the café almost towards the end and it is well worth a visit.
