This short circular walk features a long length of the River Weaver towpath not enjoyed in my other nearby walks. There is very little roadway so hardly any traffic, and the entire route is very peaceful and rural. The scenery is interesting and variable with the most attractive sections being the winding narrow path alongside the river through Hatton's Hey wood (see photo), and the quirky stile over a fallen tree. All of the paths are good but are likely to have muddy bits in winter. It's unlikely you'll meet any farm animals except some nearby horses. There is one broken bridle gate, but the others are all okay and there are two stiles but no kissing gates. The tracks leading to and from the river valley have been used in previous walks of mine, although this time viewed from the opposite direction so look entirely different; the one out of the valley is uphill all the way, but not too steep. The walk includes instructions for walkers from moored river boats which you may see cruising on the river in summer.

It is probably suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs; and okay for buggies in summer and also very adventurous wheelchair users with a team of assistants for the stiles and through the wood. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best, and essential in winter or after heavy rain. There should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On this route there are no facilities of any kind.
