As the North Coast 500 grows in popularity I've been trying to write up a few short walks that give people travelling around the coast a sense of the history and natural environment of the Far North. One of the saddest periods of the history of the North are the Clearances. This very short walk with amazing seascape views visits the bleak, forbidding clearance village of Badbea, a place to which those cleared from their homes in the fertile valleys of Strath Kildonan and elsewhere were sent. There are information markers on the route
Stout footwear is recommended as the walk is wet underfoot even in the best of weather.
