Starting at Badby, a most attractive Northamptonshire village where charming cottages and houses cluster round tree-clad greens, this super little walk ventures out to Newnham on footpaths that follow the River Nene for part of the way. A quiet country lane, then a gated road allow some marvellous views over green and pleasant countryside before the final treat of walking in woodland. Badby Wood is a place of magical beauty, heavenly in the spring when hosts of vivid bluebells carpet vast areas, a truly stunning sight then, but wonderful at any time of year. The natural beauty and solace therein is a perfect remedy for the stresses of everyday life.

The majority of this walk was great for the dogs, especially the part through the woods. The only parts we didn't like were step 4 down Preston Capes Road and step 5 along the gated road to Badby as there was a lot of speeding traffic.

Lovely walk, couple of things to note (as of October 2015) 7. The archway has a fixed gate across, and entrance to the woods is via a kissing gate to the right of the arch. 9. Head 'diagonally right' over the meadow (there is a straight ahead path)is a better description, and the 'follow hedge on the left and take the walkers' gate on the left in the hedge onto...'
