This is the second half of the Badenoch Way, a very pleasant 20km walk from just south of Aviemore along the Spey Valley to Ruthven, near Kingussie. This part of the route is from the Uath Lochans, near Feshiebridge, south to Ruthven, a distance of 10km. It passes through Forest Enterprise woods, open moorland with views across the Spey Valley to the Monadhliath Mountains, touches the hamlets of Inveruglas and Drumguish and finishes in the RSPB Inshes Reserve. En route deer, red squirrels, buzzards, ospreys and a variety of water birds may be seen. Paths are good (boots recommended) and dogs are welcome. Altogether it's an enjoyable family walk, with refreshments, toilets, shops etc in nearby Kingussie.
