The Badminton Estate and the grand house, which sits in the heart of the estate, date from the 17th Century. It is now the home of the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort. It is set in a beautiful deer park, which hosts the world famous Badminton Horse Trials every spring. Not surprisingly, the estate also has a connection with the racquet sport of the same name. It was was brought back from India by army officers, where it was called Poona, and played for the first time in this country on the estate it is now named after.
The walk is fairly flat, passing through the village of Badminton and nearby Luckington, as well as the estate and deer park, where glimpses of the house and park pond can be seen.
Please note it will not be possible to complete the walk while the Badminton Horse Trials are on, as rights of way through the estate are closed.
