A very easy to follow short walk through the farming countryside to the north east of Darlington. From the no-through-road village of Barmpton, the walk initially climbs up through an area of farming land that includes a group of huge wind turbines. The route then travels along a couple of ancient trading lanes that lead you down through agricultural land to intersect the River Skerne near to an ancient packhorse bridge that is intriguingly fifty yards from the nearest river. The final lap of the walk is a very pleasant ramble back to Barmpton through the flat meadows that lie alongside the River Skerne.
