The second walk of the Wanderlust Way (the other two are 2026 and 2066). An easy, circular walk around the splendid scenery and pretty villages of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

The walk begins in the village of Barnoldby le Beck, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, to follow Waithe Beck (keep an eye open for hares, foxes and butterflies) into the idyllic little village of Hatcliffe.

From Hatcliffe, you discover that Lincolnshire isn't flat after all, as you follow a lane through a steep-sided wooded valley up to East Ravendale (another very pretty little village). On the way out of East Ravendale, the views over Grimsby, the Humber and East Yorkshire will take you by surprise, before dropping into Ashby cum Fenby (pretty village) and the flatter areas to the north of the Wolds.

From here, it's easy walking through Brigsley (why not stop for an ice cream? - the walk passes right beside the ice-cream shop) and back to Barnoldby le Beck, where you can sample the excellent hospitality in The Ship Inn. Oh and did I mention that Brigsley is...yes, you guessed it...a very pretty little village!

An easy to follow, dog friendly walk with stunning scenery. One word of caution though. As you leave Ashby Cum Fenby, the walk directs you through a field with cows in and there is a sign on a gate saying 'Beware of the Bull'. According to a local, this bull has charged 2 people this year already. To avoid this field, simply continue along the lane turning right at the end. You will soon reach the ice-cream shop in Brigsley alongside which you turn left and resume the original walk.

Walk completed 5/1/2014. Excellent walk Thanks Sam. Doing this walk in January contributed to the pictures at way points not looking like the photographs, though some details have changed, new buildings etc. There are now no stiles, all have been replaced by kissing-gates. Also there is a dedicated car park for walkers just east of the church, in Barnoldby le Beck, it is signposted. Regards K Hartley.
