Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge and Baslow Edge form part of an almost continuous gritstone escarpment which runs for a dozen miles from Stanage to Chatsworth. They form a playground for climbers and walkers alike, with views over the green and pleasant valley of the River Derwent and the villages of Baslow and Curbar. This walk covers part of these fine edges, starting from Baslow to the north-east of Bakewell. It is ideal for those who do not wish to commit themselves to the full edge walk, but still experience the fine views afforded.

4/23/2018 - Gillian Ellis

Walked this with our 12-year old daughter and our two dogs in April 2018. Instead of descending at Curbar Gap, we extended the walk along Curbar Edge, dipping down to Froggatt and back along the Derwent, so approximately 11.5 kilometres in total. Instantly became our favourite walk to date, and one we will definitely be doing again. The views are amazing, and the walking fairly strenuous in places (i.e. the 'up' bit and the 'down' bit), but with good stretches of easy to moderate walking along Baslow Edge and Curbar Edge and back along the river. We walk the dogs on extendable leads, but there are lots of opportunities along the walk to let them off the lead. Love it!
